Guild Wars Campaigns Canceled

“You read that right: Guild Wars Campaign 4 is canceled – and so are all future Guild Wars campaigns. Finished. Done. Gone for good.” After the “rousing success” that was Nightfall (the third campaign) and over 3 million in sales, you start to wonder why. But don’t start to panic, I haven’t finished the story, welcome the first Guild Wars expansion – Eye of the North – and the first sequel – Guild Wars 2. Why you ask? According to PC Gamer magazine, it is because the developers aren’t able to make the games as great as they want too while trying to stick to the six month schedule. It is also mentioned that because the campaigns need to be a standalone game and an addition, they have been getting harder to just pick-up and play. ArenaNet Co-Founder Jeff Stain says that they are “battling against complexity. [They] don’t want to make complicated games. [They] want to make fun, easy-to-grasp games that are easy to get into and not frontloaded with complexity.”

iPod and my silly dilemma

Lately, I have been considering getting a new iPod some time after my current one dies (I expect this to happen sometime after Tuesday – when my warranty finally expires – probably during my trip to Austin, TX in two weeks). The problem is that there are several ways I could go on this. First off, I could use a new cell phone and the iPhone looks awesome, but a bit pricey. My second thought is getting a Nano because I love to run and the Nike sport kit looks like it could be useful (I love to track that kind of info). Third, there is rumor to suggest that sometime in the next month Apple will finally be announcing the real video iPod with touch screen. Finally there is the option of trying out another brand such as the Creative Vision:M, or a similar model.

Reasons for me not to get an iPod are simple, I have other things I would like to get. For example, another Apple product I’m quite interested in is a MacBook. The price of these are obviously a major factor in my decision.

So there you have it. I’m stalled on if I should consider getting a new iPod, and then if I do what kind…

Note: I’m currently on my 6th iPod under warranty. It is a 4th Gen 40GB B&W. I got it originally in October 2004. Before my warranty expired it broke for the 4th time and was extended for the 90 days. It broke again and I had to call several times before I got a hold of someone willing to verify the 90 day warranty since they never credited my account. The warranty for the 6th expires on 3/27/2007. (Most of the failures have been due to hard drive failure.)

CodeJacked Sold

As I mentioned in my last post (only mentioned, but because I forgot about trackbacks CodeJacked got a pointless one, sorry)…anyways, I mentioned that CodeJacked was up for sale. Well it has been sold (noticed the title did ya?). The final price was $999 which I feel is a decent price since the blog has only been going since Dec. 16th of 2006. Hopefully the buyer craig191 will be able to keep the blog up to the standard it was at (or find someone to do it). So until CodeJacked gets back up and running I guess I’ll have to do something productive…not that I’m a procrastinator…

Update: CodeJacked has removed their post on being up for sale…
Update2: craig has made his first post. CodeJacked is back :)

Update: Busy with life, blogs to read, and the 1940s…and Francis Townsend?

Once again I’m posting to apologize for the lack of life on this site. Hopefully come April things will have settled down for awhile so that I can pay some much needed attention to….well this blog for one (or at least if get less bogged down with stuff in general). I still check to make sure things are running and such, just haven’t posted. The best I can do right now is suggest some other readings and guess what? They’re already in my blogroll. The following would have to be my most read. CodeJacked would be on there but it is being sold so who knows how that’s going to end up.

Oh, just remembered, if anyone knows any good sites, books, information, etc on the following two topics I’d be more than happy to have the tips.

  • Francis Townsend (I have to do a debate ‘as’ him on the 3/15 3/26 based around the depression, FDR, etc) (Francis Townsend vs. FDR vs. Huey Long vs. Father Coughlin)
  • 1940s (1 hour presentation on the art, music, movies, and books of the time and how they were affected by events of the time. 3/20)

EDIT: Updated date for debate. Also, the 1940s presentation went well.
